Potential Joint Venture

Objective: Poseidon Poseidon Investigations was tasked with verifying a company’s credentials, their financial stability, and conducting civil/criminal backgrounds of senior management previous to a potential merger.

Forensic AccountingResults: Corporate records were reviewed and interviews of individuals in the local business community were conducted.  Evidence and information we collected during this process verified that the company had been properly registered and had adequate financial resources.  A review of senior managements’ civil and criminal history was conducted within local and federal civil and criminal courts.  Additional confirmation was acquired by contacting law enforcement contacts to determine if any infractions had occurred – disparaging information was not found.

However, a discreet interview with an informant revealed an on-going money laundering investigation pertaining to one of the senior manager’s other businesses.  As a result, our client decided to not pursue a joint venture with one of the senior managers because of the on-going investigation, potentially saving the client millions of dollars and criminal charges.
